ARENA2036: The “ForschFab” research area
ARENA2036 Research Factory
The aim of the “ForschFab” research area is to produce cost-efficient, highly individualized, environmentally friendly vehicles for the price of a mass-produced product. In order to fulfil these demands, the ARENA2036 Research Campus is working on loosely connected production modules which allow an optimal factory through-put for each component.
ARENA2036’s “Industry on the Campus” concept is paying off in the ForschFab project. Daimler AG and Robert Bosch GmbH defined the challenges of future motor vehicle production as end users of the technology that is being developed. BÄR Automation GmbH is introducing automated guided vehicles which can be linked flexibly and are independent of conveyor belts and conveyor speeds. The scientific partners from the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) and the University of Stuttgart involved in the project are taking a holistic approach to answering the questions raised and are working with their partners in industry to translate their results into practical solutions.
With its “ForschFab” project, the research campus is taking a decisive step towards flexible production methods in the automobile industry. ARENA2036 is thus successfully positioning itself with its cutting-edge approaches to production and factory structures.
